CORROSION TREATMENT ON 72MW SITE
Case Study 5
Situation/Challenge
In the initial construction of the inverter stations, insufficient materials were used considering the environmental conditions. This led to premature corrosion with all 30 inverter stations being affected.
BGE Solution
BGE worked closely with an anti-corrosion provider to develop a solution to treat the affected areas without lifting the inverters. This involved treating all stations with a two-component solvent free epoxy coating to prevent environmental damage in the future.
Outcome
All the stations were corrected with no inverter downtime and warrantied for a further 25 years.
